This is usually used to describe an elderly man who passed away shortly after his wife. And why this romantic notion is used in dramas and storytelling, the basis of what they’re saying is science.
Our bodies have a physical manifestation of our emotions.
What About Stress and Anxiety?
Stress has a very similar response as pain to your body.
As humans, our body is looking to protect itself from it’s environment. When were constantly stressed or anxious, our body is regularly in a state of “Fight or Flight.”
In fact, studies have shown that chronic long term stress can be as detrimental to your health as a poor diet.
Why? Because our body releases hormones during stressful events than can lead to weight gain, heart problems, and more!
So How Can We Fight Our Emotional Responses?
By learning to manage our emotions and heal from past traumas.
